Chunky Monkey has and always will be one of my favorite flavors of ice cream! I mean bananas chocolate… can you go wrong? However, let’s add ONE more favorite flavor into that combo: peanut butter! Yep. you heard me, banana, chocolate & peanut butter. With those 3 nothing can go wrong! That is why when my friends at Kodiak Cakes came out with their new maple syrups ( maple peanut butter & maple almond nut butter ) I knew I had to create a recipe putting those 3 flavors together & make a milk shake that you all would love. I wanted to create a healthier twist of a ice cream recipe & that is how Kodiak Cake Chunk Monkey Nice-Cream Shake came to be!
What is “Nice-Cream’?
Did you know that on average an ice cream shake can have on average 600-800 calories?
Now I am all about having that shake if you want it, now & again! I truly believe that. However, we know that drinking these a lot are not good for us in the slightest. So I wanted to bring you something that cuts those calories in half & makes your body feel a lot better after!
It is hysterical because I started making this nice cream 5 years ago… one of my first Instagram posts from my personal page was an old tuber-ware container with my Banana Nice cream concoction in it… now fast forward 5 years later & a food blog later, I realized HOW have I not made it recently to put on here?! Nice cream has been an it term when it comes to “healthier” ice cream– why it is called “nice” hahah. The base is typically frozen banana because that is what gives it that creamy texture. However, there have been a lot of nice cream recipes that don’t use banana. This recipe however uses the bananas to get that creamy chunky monkey flavor.

Questions for How to Make the Kodiak Cake Chunky Monkey Nice-Cream Shake
Am I able to use the almond butter syrup instead?
Absolutely! The syrups are so good, you all will love using them
Do I have to use cocoa powder or can I leave it out?
You can, but it won’t be the same chocolaty taste
Mine didn’t turn out really creamy, what could have gone wrong?
If this happened the problem could have been not leaving the banana slices in the freezer long enough. They need to freeze out of the peel, sliced in an air tight container for at least 3-5 hours. I usually cut them up the night before & let it freeze over night
Is this recipe Dairy Free?
Yes, I use dairy free coconut milk!
Can I make one and freeze it for later?
Yes, just make sure it is in an air tight container
