My dad has been asking me to make a recipe like this for over a year now. This is not a joke ( even though it is funny it took me this long!). My dad was at the St. Louis Art Fair one year and at one of the booths were cheeseburger egg rolls… and the rest was history! Then once summer started I was thinking what recipes did I want to come alive, and it dawned on me that I had not made these happen yet! Boy was I wrong in waiting so long, this recipe is easy and uses simple ingredients. I also did this recipe with both ground beef and a ground chicken option. You are in for quite a treat. My family both declared this a new favorite!
What Makes these Healthy and Easy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls… Easy AND Healthy??
When you think of egg rolls you think deep fried right? Well luckily as far as I’m concerned it doesn’t have to be like that! In this recipe we air fry them but you could also bake them as well. However, air frying them gives them that deep fried consistency without having to be unhealthily fried!
Not only does the cooking method come into play with how healthy and easy these are, but also the simple ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken or ground beef
- 1/3 cup chopped dill pickles
- 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
- 3 tbsp ketchup

- 2 tsp Hinkle Seasoning (recipe below)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese
- 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 5 slices of American cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil

Long story short it is a seasoning that is passed down from my Great Grandfather! It is key to so many other delicious HGHF recipes. It is amazing on meat, veggies, sauces you name it. I make it and then have on hand for all the others deliciousness! Recipe below & linked other recipe you need to make with the seasoning once you make it.

How Do We Make the Healthy and Easy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
One thing I love about this recipe is you need 1 pan & you are good to go, less than 30 minutes. This recipe is the perfect less than 30 busy week night recipe or appetizer! I love to serve it with homemade 1000 island or ketchup to dip it in and enjoy!
Directions:
- In frying pan add 2 tbsp olive oil on medium heat. Then add in the garlic & onions. Let it sauté for 2 minutes.
- Then add in your ground meat of choice, while you are cooking down to make sure there is no pink. Add in your Hinkle Seasoning & Worcestershire sauce. Once the meat is no longer pink, drain the grease if you are using beef, for ground chicken you will not need to do this.
- Then add in the ketchup and pickles, continue cooking for 3 more minutes. Continuing to mix. After fold in the shredded cheese until it melts into the beef or chicken mixture then set aside.
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees. Then place an egg roll wrapper on your cutting board. In the center add in 1 1/2 tbsp of cheeseburger mixture. Then place half a slice of American cheese over the mixture. Then fold in opposite corners, then fold up the bottom corner side over the center and roll up to the remaining corner.
- Place rolled up egg rolls into the air fryer basket. Spray with avocado oil on top (or approved oil for your air fryer) then air fry at 400 for 6 minutes. Then flip over, spray lightly once more, then air fry for 3 more minutes.
- Take out & place on top of a paper towel to absorb any excess grease. Then serve with your favorite dipping sauce!

Most Common Questions Asked When Making Healthy and Easy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
Is this recipe gluten free?
Yes this recipe is gluten free! Just always check your egg roll wrappers to make sure the brand you are using is gluten free.
Are you able to make this recipe dairy free?
I have never used dairy free shredded cheese or American cheese, so I would use only brands you know you enjoy!
What is the best way to heat these up?
Microwaving them is not the best way to heat them up. You want them to be crispy! Therefore toast them for a 3-5 minutes in the toaster oven at 350 degrees.
If you don’t have an air fryer can you bake them?
Yes! Bake at 400 degrees. Spray tops with olive oil, then bake for 10 to 12 minutes, keeping an eye on the egg roll wrappers until nice and golden brown.
Which is best to use ground chicken or ground beef?
I personally love both! My mom does not even red meat so she devours the ground chicken! However, my dad loves the ground beef, so honestly I think it is your preference!
What is the best way to store these Healthy and Easy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls?
In an air tight container for up to 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator

I loved that this recipe changed up the normal burger into an egg roll. It was super easy to throw this together for a quick weeknight meal and pop in some sweet potato fries after they were done cooking. The flavors are on point and delicious. We will be making these again soon!
