Think the McDonalds Big Mac….. but Wonton form– yep, you heard me right. It is not a dream, this is reality 🙂 When I use to eat McDonald’s growing up my favorite things were
1. Sausage Egg McMuffin (which is why I had to re create those as well!)
2. Big Mac
However, now a days as my focus is on real food & real ingredients, I am unsure of exactly what is in the Big Mac, even though it is oh so delicious. That is why I wanted to create my very own version! A cleaner, simple, and family friendly recipe that I know what is going into it and you don’t feel so sluggish afterwards, like you do after eating fast food.
This recipe is a win among wins!! No joke I could sit and eat the whole tray. When I was reshooting them today, I went to McDonald’s to get a Big Mac to shoot with. That is why you can see the box and fries in the shots! Then I gave the Big Mac to my dad to eat. He ate that, with one of my Delicious Big Mac Wonton’s next to it. I am not kidding you these were his words :
“This is scary how close in taste they are!! Honestly Alaina I like yours better.”

Let’s get stared on these Delicious Big Mac Wontons!
Special Sauce = HGHF Special 1000 Island
We all know that special sauce on the Big Mac makes the burger, so that is why this HGHF Special 1000 Island had to be perfect to make it as well! It will go in between the layers of the wonton like the layers of the burger buns in the Big Mac.
There is still some mayo in the recipe, but is lighted up by Greek Yogurt and other scrumptious ingredients as well!
HGHF Special 1000 Island
- 2/3 cup mayo
- 1/2 cup greek yogurt
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2/3 cup DILL pickle relish ( make sure it is DILL so it isn’t sweet!)
- 1 tsp Worcester Sauce
- 2 tsp hot sauce ( I like Primal )
- 1/2 tsp honey`
- 1/4 tsp salt
Direction: Place all ingredients in the bowl and whisk until throughly combined. Then place in air tight container unit you are ready to use.
What Ingredients are in the Delicious Big Mac Wontons Filling
- 1/2 chopped yellow onion
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 1/2 lbs ground chicken thigh
- 4 tbsp Worcester sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- dash of cayenne pepper
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- 4oz block of cream cheese
- 5 tbsp chicken broth
- 5 tbsp dill pickle juice
Ingredients below are for when you are filling the wontons
- 1 cup chopped dill pickles
- Package of Wonton Wrappers
- 12 oz shredded Monterey Jack or cheese of choice
- Shredded Lettuce & Tomato to top it with
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375
1. In a large frying pan add in olive oil at medium high heat. Add in chopped yellow onion & garlic cloves minced, then let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Next add in ground chicken thigh. Add in 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp onion powder & 1/2 tsp garlic powder. Then break apart into tiny pieces, until almost full cooked.
2. Next add Worcester sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder & dash of cayenne pepper. Cook until fully cooked through. Then add in tomato paste, chicken broth & 4 oz cream cheese. Cook stirring to combine for about 2 minutes.
3. Lastly stir in the pickle juice & turn down to low heat. Let it heat on low while you get your muffin tins ready.
4. Grease 2, 12 cup muffin tins. (good choice here)Then line the bottom of each muffin tin cup with 1 of the wonton wrappers. Press down so it lines the cup, but not too hard so it doesn’t break. Then take about 1 tbsp of filling mixture & place in each muffin tin on top of the wrapper.
5. Then put about 1/2 tsp of HGHF Special 1000 Island onto the filling mixture. Repeat until all muffin cups are done. Then sprinkle Monterey shredded cheese on top of the 1000 island.
6. Now take 1 more wonton wrapper & place on top of the first layer of filling. Press down to make a pocket around the first layer, which leaves a clean base for you to do the next layer. You will repeat a similar layer on top, but you will do filling, chopped dill pickles, 1000 island than cheese. Repeat until all the second layer are complete.
7. Bake at 375 for 15-18 minutes. They are done when they are golden brown & starting to crisp. Then serve with chopped up lettuce, tomatoes & more 1000 on top.
Questions While Making These Delicious Big Mac Wontons
Can I use store bought 1000 Island?
You are more than welcome to use whatever 1000 Island you’d like. However, if you want these to taste SCARY SIMILAR to the Big Mac from McDonalds I highly suggest making this recipes 1000 Island. Also it is one of my favorite dressing recipes. You don’t want to miss it 🙂
Is there a certain cheese I need to use?
You can use whatever shredded cheese you’d like. However, I feel like a Cheddar, American or Monterey Cheddar needs to be used in it to get that similar taste!
Are there accommodations for this recipe to be Dairy Free?
You are more than welcome to try out a making the 1000 with dairy free mayo and Greek Yogurt. I have not tried that yet! But would love to hear your feedback!

Equipment
- 12 cup muffin tin
Ingredients
