How Do I Make The Cranberry Orange Simple Syrup?
1 1/2 cups of fresh cranberries
1 1/2 cup water
3/4 organic cane sugar
1 navel orange
Directions:
- In a sauce pan stir the fresh cranberries, cane sugar and water. Peel orange, discard the peel and section off the oranges slices and place in the sauce pan. Stir for about a minute to help sugar dissolve
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn down to a simmer– medium low heat. For 15 minutes let it simmer, the cranberries will start to “pop” and soften.
- Give it a good stir occasionally, then remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Place a fine sieve or small strainer over large mason jar or container, start slowly pouring the simple syrup in the strainer. With the back of a spoon squeeze the juice out of the cranberries left and orange slices. Discard the cranberries and orange pulp occasionally as you continue to strain it.
- Then place on counter to cool completely before using! ( sometimes I cannot wait for it to cool completely and that is okay– especially because you will be using ice anyways!)
