Common Questions When Making the 3 Ingredient Crock Pot French Onion Chicken
Are you able to make the 3 Ingredient Crock Pot French Onion Chicken ahead of time?
Yes! I have made it before on the weekend, both potatoes & the chicken. In an air tight container store the chicken in the French Onion “gravy” liquid from cooking. Then store the potatoes in another airtight container.
How do you reheat the 3 Ingredient Crock Pot French Onion Chicken
When reheating chicken dishes, you never want it to dry out. Especially since this recipe makes the chicken so tender & juicy, we don’t want you missing out on that! Therefore in a medium sized stock pot, put the chicken in it with ALL the French Onion “gravy” liquid. Heat on medium low. If it starts to boil, turn down the heat to low. You want it to heat through. Heating it in the gravy will make sure the chicken does not dry out and has the same great taste as if it just came out of the Crock Pot.
Mashed potatoes do the same thing, but keep on low the whole time, so the potatoes do not burn on the bottom of the pan.
Can you make this recipe using chicken breast instead of chicken thigh?
You sure can! Just adjust the time to 4 hours instead of 4 ½ on low. I have made the recipe with both. I feel like chicken thighs provide a lot more flavor being the dark meat and bit more fatty. However, I want you to enjoy this recipe however you feel would work best for you!
Are you able to use sour cream instead of Greek Yogurt in this recipe?
Yes! However, I do recommend using full fat sour cream. That way it is not more watery & holds a nice flavor.

This recipe was so easy, yet so flavorful! Such a good weeknight dinner with minimal prep. There is plenty of leftover gravy to go on top of mashed potatoes or maybe even rice. I liked this one so much that it’s on the menu again in less than a week since my first time! This time I’ll be trying out the garlic mashed potatoes listed above as well!

Converted this to the crockpot for 15 minutes. Tried to let it natural release for as long as possible but it was supper time. Came out perfectly, happy plates all around. I probably only needed half of the soup for instant pot but we have lots of gravy.
